holiday one-night workshops @ Home Ec

I've got some new one-night workshops on thursday evenings starting this week at Home Ec; there's still time to learn a new craft before 2007 is out...

Home Ec is located at 303 3rd Avenue, between Carroll and 1st Street in Brooklyn, between Park Slope and Carroll Gardens (R to Union St.)

Here are 3 great classes to get you ready for the holidays; guaranteed to inspire you to MAKE some of your presents this year!

Introduction to Embroidery
November 29th
6:30-8:30pm
$40

A touch of embroidery can spruce up everything from clothes to curtains. It's a great way to personalize something for yourself or for someone you love!! We'll learn 12 simple stitches and make a sampler that you'll keep for reference.

Students should bring:
**a fat quarter (18 x 18") of gingham or other sturdy lightweight woven
**embroidery floss
**needles (with big enough eye to thread the floss through)

Introduction to Applique
December 6th
6:30-8:30pm
$50

Applique can be cute or avant-garde; we'll give you the skills to take it either way! It's a fantastic way to embellish gifts this holiday season. You'll be amazed at what you'll be able to do. 3 different hand-stitching techniques will be covered.
All supplies for this class are included!

Introduction to Block Printing
December 13th
6:30-8:30pm
$60
Block Printing

Did you know you could learn to print your own textiles at home??? We'll use simple tools to carve our own stamps and experiment with several different printing materials.
All supplies for this class are included!
