i returned from mexico last week, and let's just say it was love at first sight. i was overwhelmed by the beauty and simplicity of life, and the kindness of the people everywhere we went. i am so excited to write about the stories and adventures and share my photos. however, since i took nearly 600 of them, it's going to be a process that i will have to tackle bit by bit, so bear with me! in the meantime, gertie is very relieved that i didn't bring her back the new baby brother she's never wanted... but it sure was tempting! jasmine (pictured above) nearly caved as well, but then she already has three chihuahuas at home!

creature comforts

i wanted to show off two of my newest canine clients: that's sophie in her new hodge podge sweater at left, and chloe in her new (customized) pouch! i love to see pics of my pieces modelled by their ultimate owners, and these two made me smile this week. see more of the hodge podge dog line in my shop. this boost in doggy business may have been due to the fact that i was blogged and featured in a treasury... thanks fellow etsians!

'cept for us dogs... andros chapter 7
ok, thanks for bearing with me on the sporadic blogging of late, not to mention the eternally slow posts of the vacation which was back in, uh, april! i have an excellent excuse for my seeming slackerness, which i promise to divulge very soon...
anyway, i have always loved places where dogs can roam free, and be independent citizens. you know, like in Lady and the Tramp. and andros is one of those places. like you come 'round a corner, and coming the other way is a canine who's clearly on his way somewhere, with no time to talk. handsome mullet, king of the pack, is pete's dog and accompanied us on most of our adventures. he seems to have a pretty good life.

mullet's girlfriend, much to pete's chagrin (he thinks mully could do better), is nubby. they could often be seen making out on the beach or hunting for crabs. one time nubby swam way out to our boat as we were taking off on a little excursion, because you-know-who was in the boat with us. but pete wouldn't let her come aboard, and she had to swim back to shore solo. it was heartbreaking for a softie like me!

this is bob, a neighbor dog who tended to show up whenever i sat on the beach to crochet. he was good company, as long as i scratched his ears every now and then. and once we saw him duck into the bushes with nubby, but don't tell mullet!

gertie got blogged

a couple of weeks ago gertie and i were stopped on the street by the sartorialist of canine fashion, dogs in sweaters! check out her post on my lil' canine fashionista here.
then i realized i've never shown all of gertie's fabulous sweaters that i make for her, mostly from recycled vintage human sweaters. she's got a whole bunch more that i've never photographed, especially the crocheted ones; i need to get those documented sometime soon.
there are a few in my etsy shop now, and i'm always happy to make one custom for a dog you know!

happy dawgs
there's been lots o' dog fun around hodge podge farm in the past month or so... i finally got to have a photo shoot with the gorgeous Oona, elyse's pup. she was a perfect model and entertained us with all of her cool tricks between shots. so now these are posted in the shop...
we made a custom fleece sweater for the lovely Lucy, above left, and gertie also made her modelling debut in the shop...
...and gertie had a long-overdue play-date with her supermodel sister Molasses. unfortunately they were having so much fun i couldn't catch them in a still moment the entire time, hence the 'ghost dog' pics!
